Introducing the LABRUM x Guinness Furniture Objects: COMMON THREADS
A tribute to gathering and togetherness wrapped in the vibrant LABRUM x Guinness print fabric, our sofas, checkers boards, stools, mirrors, and lamps are not just furniture; they are portals to cherished memories. Imagined around the joyous atmosphere of Foday Dumbuya's grandmother’s kiosk, this collection invites you to embrace the spirit of connection that thrived in that lively setting, where friends and family would come together for spirited games of draughts/checkers, laughter, and good times.

Central to our collection is the signature zigzag pattern, a motif that celebrates the interplay of cultures, ideas, and communities. The zigzag legs of the furniture not only add a dynamic aesthetic but also serve as a visual metaphor for movement and the continuous flow of traditions.
This design embodies Foday Dumbuya’s mission to honour African heritage while embracing the rich tapestry of global cultures.
As Foday poignantly states, "The zigzag pattern, for me, is more than just a design element. It’s a symbol of connection, of cultures flowing into one another and creating something new. It’s about the way ideas, traditions, and people come together to shape the future while honouring the past."
Crafted to reflect both functionality and cultural significance, the collection includes a lampshade modelled after LABRUM's iconic Nomoli figurine. These carved soapstone figures, native to Sierra Leone and Liberia, hold historical importance as symbols of protection and spiritual significance, adding another layer of depth to your home.
This collection is more than just furniture; it’s an invitation to celebrate the resilience, change, and fluidity inherent in cultural exchange. By integrating these historical motifs into everyday living spaces, Foday transforms your environment into a haven of connection and meaningful experiences.
The installation is running at our Carnaby store, 35A Marshall Street, W1F 7EX, until March 23rd.
