King Naimbana II

Labrum's founder Foday Dumbuya, set up the charity 'King Naimbana II' - named after his late father's given chief title in 2016 in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

The charity was set up with the goal to help develop sports for children, with a focus on running, funding their educations and ultimately keep them out of crime. The aim is to help young people who dream of becoming pro athletes but do not have access to basic equipment such as running shoes and apparel. To achieve this; the charity donated sports gear and provided the services of a sports coach to help guide them through this journey. In 2017, King Naimbana II donated desperately needed items to those affected by the mudslides on Christmas Day 2017 and will be continuing its fundraising efforts.

We’re proud to share that the proceeds from the Labrum x Kelly Anna Highlife print face mask sales provided food and medicines for our youth and sports development initiative in Sierra Leone presented by the minister of sports.

This particular print was designed for our SS19 collection inspired by the Highlife music genre that originated in West Africa in the 1920's.

Labrum Athletic
As you may know we are proud to have raised much needed funds previously for The Wickers Charity, but this time all proceeds were donated to Labrum Athletic team in Freetown, Sierra Leone. Labrum Athletic is a grassroots movement enabling and empowering runners one step at a time.

Our founder Foday Dumbuya set it up in 2016 with a goal of trying to inspire and support youth development. Through @daddydarkrdc and Run Dem Crew he learnt that running harnessed positivity to go forward in every part of life. Labrum Athletic is a way of helping to empower others through running and community.

Attitude is everything, especially when it comes to running. Without the right attitude, runners will never reach his or her potential.

This is what Labrum Athletic is set to push. Through running, we strongly feel it disciplines us and harnesses positivity to go forward in every area of life.

Thank you to everyone who has supported along the way!
