Proud to announce that LABRUM London has been awarded the Queen Elizabeth ll Award for British Design, presented by King Charles lll during the BFC Impact Announcement event at 180 Studios - a live ceremony showcasing all the talent support initiatives of the BFC Foundation.
We are immensely grateful to receive such a prestigious award and would like to thank our community members and those who believed in us from the very beginnings.
"Good afternoon Your Majesty, esteemed guests, it is such an honor and privilege to receive this award today.
As a designer, my mission has been to not only create visually stunning pieces, but also to use fashion as a vehicle to create positive change within my community and beyond.
Growing up in Sierra Leone, my deep love and appreciation for my country's rich and vibrant culture inspired me to create LABRUM.
I saw how fashion can be a powerful tool for self-expression, cultural identity, and economic development. With this in mind, I set out to create pieces that are not only beautiful but support and empower local communities while preserving their cultural heritage.
Receiving this award today is a testament to the hard work and dedication of not only myself but the countless individuals who have supported me and my vision throughout my career.
I want to dedicate this award to my fellow Sierra Leoneans, who have faced unimaginable challenges and hardship. This award is for the artisans, craftspeople, and entrepreneurs who work tirelessly to create a better future for themselves and their families. I hope that through my work and this award, I can inspire others to pursue their passions, embrace their unique identities, and create a brighter future for themselves and their communities.
Your Majesty King Charles, thank you for this incredible recognition and your support for the fashion industry. I am beyond humbled to receive this award, and I promise to continue creating work that uplifts and empowers our communities and preserves our cultural legacy.
I want to thank the BFC for your continued support and for giving me a platform to showcase my work globally
I want to thank my family and my wife who has supported me endless in my journey.
Thank you to my LABRUM team who work tirelessly and always believe in my vision.
Last but not the least, thank you to my friends who always supported me on this journey.
This is for all you young British and Sierra Leonean kids who continue to dream, don’t stop dreaming."
Looking forward to sharing new stories and upcoming projects in the near future with you.
