PRODUCTION ASSISTANT WORK PLACEMENT

Join LABRUM London, an African British Heritage fashion brand whose purpose is to tell the untold stories of West Africa and to help bridge the gap between Western society and African cultures. 

We are currently offering a Production Assistant work experience placement to join the team at our 180 Strand studio. This is an expenses-only work placement. Travel and food expenses will be covered. The position is for a duration of 3-6 months with the potential of an extension and permanent position. 

ABOUT THE ROLE

    The Production Intern will work closely with the Production Manager, gaining hands-on experience across the entire product development process. From initial concept through to final production, this role offers exposure to working with international suppliers, garment development, sample management and the fast-paced environment of fashion brand.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Product Development

    • ⁠⁠Support the creation and organisation of tech packs and development documents.
    • Assist with measuring, reviewing and tracking garment samples.
    • Help prepare for fittings and development meetings.

    2. Production & Supplier Coordination

    • Support communication with international suppliers and manufacturers.
    • Assist with tracking production timelines and key milestones.
    • Help coordinate shipping, courier bookings and production documentation.

    3. Fashion Week Preparation

    • Support the Product team in the lead-up to London Fashion Week.
    • ⁠Attend model fittings and assist with documenting fit changes.
    • Help coordinate updates to garments, ensuring alterations and comments from fittings are communicated and completed accurately.
    • Assist with the organisation and preparation of the collection ahead of the show.

    CANDIDATE PROFILE

    You are highly organised, proactive and eager to learn, with a genuine interest in garment development and the production process. You enjoy working in a fast-paced, creative environment where no two days are the same, and you're happy to get stuck into both practical, hands-on tasks and administrative responsibilities.

    REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPREINCE

    • Interest in Production: A genuine interest in fashion production, garment construction and the product development process.
    • Organisation: Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage samples, production documents and multiple deadlines.
    • Attention to Detail: A meticulous approach when reviewing garments, measuring samples and updating production information.
    • Communication: Confident communicating professionally with internal teams, suppliers and manufacturers.
    • Tech-Proficient: Comfortable using Google Workspace and Microsoft Excel. Experience with Adobe Illustrator or tech packs is a bonus, but not essential.
    • Attitude: Positive, proactive and eager to learn, with a hands-on approach and willingness to support wherever needed, particularly in the lead-up to London Fashion Week.
