FASHION DESIGN WORK PLACEMENT

Join LABRUM London, an African British Heritage fashion brand whose purpose is to tell the untold stories of West Africa and to help bridge the gap between Western society and African cultures. 

We are currently offering a Fashion Design work experience placement for students in their placement year to join the team at our 180 Strand studio, as we work towards our AW26 London Fashion Week show. The position is for a duration of 3-6 months with the potential of an extension. This is an expenses-only work placement. Travel and food expenses will be covered.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assisting the design team with research, mood boards, and concept development
  • Supporting garment construction, including toiling, hand-finishing, and sample preparation
  • Helping prepare patterns under the guidance of design team
  • Fabric and trim sourcing, including visits to suppliers
  • Assisting with fittings and documenting changes
  • Supporting production and studio teams with ad hoc tasks
  • Running errands when needed (e.g., fabric pickups, courier drop-offs)
  • Assisting with show prep and backstage support as we approach Fashion Week
  • Research & Reporting
  • Studio Support

Requirements: 

  • Strong interest in fashion design with basic garment construction knowledge
  • Confident with sewing and handling fabrics
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
  • A proactive, self-motivated attitude with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong work ethic, integrity and reliability with a hands-on attitude
  • London based
  • Available to work 2 - 3 days, 9 am-6 pm (some evenings may be required as we come closer to the show date)
    • Flexibility on working days
