Idris Elba x LABRUM x Clarks Originals
Idris Elba and Foday Dumbuya, founder of LABRUM London, are proud to have collaborated on designing the Commonwealth Games kit for their country - Sierra Leone.
The inspiration for the print was a desire to depict the power that sport has in bringing people together.
The kit features Sierra Leone’s national colours green, white and blue, together with the wavy lines which are inspired by the waves coming back to the land. We took this visual aesthetic and applied it to the iconic Desert Boot shoe in partnership with Clarks Originals, emblazoned across the upper. To mark this collaboration, the tag reads 'Clarks Originals, LABRUM and 2HR Set', Idris Elba's former label, now DSYF.
"We are finally being globally welcomed for what we have always known we possessed: a wealth of cultural agency and influence. We wanted this kit to represent the real style of the Salone people.
Africa, and especially Sierra Leone, is experiencing a cultural renaissance in every field of human endeavour, with music, art, fashion and sport leading the way.
It’s important for us that we help project a strong, positive image of Sierra Leone as we are passionate about the ambitions and prospects of our beautiful country.
Through collaborations such as this, we aim to raise Sierra Leone’s cultural global status by showcasing the country’s deep wealth of talent."
